In today’s world, personal safety is a vital skill for everyone—especially professionals navigating diverse environments. This two-hour Situational Awareness and Basic Self-Defense class is designed to equip business leaders and teams with practical tools to stay aware, safe, and confident in any situation.

This class emphasizes practicality and empowerment, providing actionable insights that can be applied immediately. Whether you’re a team leader, executive, or staff member, this course will leave you with the skills and confidence to navigate your day-to-day with heightened awareness and safety.

 

Led by senior leaders of The Safety Council of Greater St. Louis, this interactive session blends discussion and hands-on practice. Participants will learn:

·  How to enhance situational awareness in the workplace and beyond.

·  Techniques to recognize and avoid potential threats.

·  Basic self-defense moves to respond effectively in unexpected scenarios.

 

John Launius, CH, CPTD, a senior leader with The Safety Council of Greater St. Louis and an experienced consultant in media, marketing, and workforce training. John is a third-degree black belt in 

Gōjū-ryū Aikido (剛柔流) and holds additional black belt degrees in TaeKwonDo, Shotokan, and Judo. A former defense contractor for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and other intelligence agencies, John has trained military personnel, first responders, and law enforcement officers in defensive tactics, situational awareness, and “use of force” policies.
